Siracusa, founded in 734 BC, is one of the most important cultural centres of Magna Graecia. The most spectacular ruins are found within the Neapolis Archaeological Park, with the 5th-century BC Greek Theatre, one of the most majestic and important in the entire Greek world, the Latomie del Paradiso, the Ear of Dionysius, the Altar of Hiero II, and the Roman Amphitheatre.
This will be followed by a visit to the island of Ortigia, the heart of the ancient city, which holds within its monuments encapsulating thousands of years of history. We will explore the narrow streets of the Giudecca, the romantic Piazza Archimede and much more, concluding the tour in one of the most beautiful Baroque squares in Italy, Piazza Duomo.
